Size Guide
Sizing varies from brand to brand, so please go by your body measurements in centimetres rather than the size you usually buy. Our charts show body measurements, not garment measurements, and they are built from an average of published Australian size charts.
If you are between two sizes, always choose the larger size.

Pants, shorts and skirts
Go by your hip measurement. It is the one that decides whether they do up.
| Size | AU | Waist (cm) | Hips (cm) |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | 8-10 | 71 | 96 |
| M | 12 | 77 | 102 |
| L | 14 | 83 | 108 |
| XL | 16 | 88 | 114 |
| 2XL | 18 | 94 | 120 |
| 3XL | 20 | 99 | 125 |
| 4XL | 22 | 105 | 131 |
| 5XL | 24 | 111 | 137 |
Bras and bralettes
Measure your underbust firmly. That band is what holds a wirefree bra up. If your underbust and your bust point at different sizes, go by the underbust and take the larger size.
| Size | AU | Underbust (cm) | Bust (cm) |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | 10 | 68-72 | 89 |
| M | 12 | 73-77 | 94 |
| L | 14 | 78-82 | 100 |
| XL | 16 | 83-87 | 105 |
| 2XL | 18 | 88-92 | 111 |
| 3XL | 20 | 93-97 | 116 |
| 4XL | 22 | 98-102 | 122 |
| 5XL | 24 | 103-107 | 127 |
Briefs and shapewear
Go by your hip measurement. Shaping styles are meant to sit firm, but sizing down to get more hold makes them roll, so take your true size.
| Size | AU | Waist (cm) | Hips (cm) |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | 8-10 | 71 | 96 |
| M | 12 | 77 | 102 |
| L | 14 | 83 | 108 |
| XL | 16 | 88 | 114 |
| 2XL | 18 | 94 | 120 |
| 3XL | 20 | 99 | 125 |
| 4XL | 22 | 105 | 131 |
| 5XL | 24 | 111 | 137 |
Swimwear
For a one piece, go by whichever of your bust or hip measurement is the larger, and take the larger size if the two disagree. Torso length matters as much as width in a one piece, so if you are tall through the body, size up.
| Size | AU | Bust (cm) | Waist (cm) | Hips (cm) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S | 8-10 | 89 | 71 | 96 |
| M | 12 | 94 | 77 | 102 |
| L | 14 | 100 | 83 | 108 |
| XL | 16 | 105 | 88 | 114 |
| 2XL | 18 | 111 | 94 | 120 |
| 3XL | 20 | 116 | 99 | 125 |
| 4XL | 22 | 122 | 105 | 131 |
| 5XL | 24 | 127 | 111 | 137 |
Shoes
Our shoes are labelled in Australian sizes. Australian women's shoe sizes run on the US scale, so your AU size is your US size. Foot length in centimetres is the most reliable guide. If in doubt, choose a size up.
| AU | EU | Foot length (cm) |
|---|---|---|
| 4 | 35 | 21.2 |
| 5 | 36 | 22.0 |
| 6 | 37 | 22.9 |
| 7 | 38 | 23.7 |
| 8 | 39 | 24.6 |
| 9 | 40 | 25.4 |
| 10 | 41 | 26.2 |
| 11 | 42 | 27.1 |
| 12 | 43 | 27.9 |
| 13 | 44 | 28.8 |
How to measure
- Bust: measure around the fullest part of your bust while wearing a well fitting, non padded bra.
- Underbust: measure firmly directly under your bust, where a bra band sits. Pull the tape snug, this one should not be loose.
- Waist: measure around the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the belly button.
- Hips: measure around the widest part of your hips, roughly 20 cm below your waist.
- Foot length: stand on a piece of paper, mark your heel and your longest toe, and measure the distance in centimetres.
Tips
- Always use a flexible measuring tape.
- Measure your feet at the end of the day, when they are at their largest.
- Ask someone to help you if you can. It is more accurate than measuring yourself.
- If you are between two sizes, always choose the larger size.
Where these numbers come from
Our clothing charts are an average of published Australian size charts, so they reflect what an Australian size actually means rather than one supplier's opinion. The footwear chart is anchored on foot length in centimetres, which is the measurement that does not change between brands.
They are still a general guide. Individual garments vary a little with the cut and the fabric, and a stretch knit sits differently from a structured dress. If you are unsure which size to take, email us at info@adelinewear.com with your measurements and the item you have in mind. We would much rather help you get it right first time than process a return.
If a size does not work out, you can return it within 30 days. See our Returns and Refunds Policy.
